Guidelines for the Management of the Hui-Mei Calligraphy Lecture Hall

Article 1

To ensure effective management of the Hui-Mei Calligraphy Lecture Hall (hereafter “the Lecture Hall”), the Department of Chinese Literature at National Chengchi University hereby establishes the Guidelines for the Management of the Hui-Mei Calligraphy Lecture Hall.

Article 2

Use of the Lecture Hall shall give priority to regular courses. Remaining time slots may be opened to on-campus units in the following order of priority:

1. Activities of the Department of Chinese Literature.
2. Activities of other departments/institutes within the College of Liberal Arts.
3. University-wide large-scale events.
4. Activities of other on-campus units.

Article 3

The Lecture Hall’s hours of use shall follow the opening hours of the Art & Culture Center. Exceptions may be granted upon special approval. If such approval is obtained, the borrowing unit must first confirm with the Art & Culture Center administrator whether overtime support is available and shall bear the associated overtime costs.

Article 4

The units responsible for the Lecture Hall are as follows:

1. Reviewing Unit for Applications: Department of Chinese Literature.
2. Access-Control Administration: Art & Culture Center, Office of Student Affairs.

Article 5

Applicants shall complete the online form via the Facility Rental Services System no later than one week prior to the event, and submit the hard-copy application to the Department within three working days (inclusive) to complete the borrowing procedure.

Article 6

The Lecture Hall is to be used primarily for static activities. Users shall exercise due care and comply with the following rules. In case of violation, the managing unit may immediately terminate use and reject applications from the offending unit for one year; serious violations will be referred to the University for handling.

1. Smoking is strictly prohibited. The placement of firecrackers, fireworks, gas stoves, electric cookers, induction cookers, oil lamps, fuels, candles, or any other flammable items is forbidden. Cooking is prohibited. All fire safety and disaster-prevention rules must be observed.
2. No food or drink is allowed.
3. Electrical safety must be strictly observed. Altering or illegally tapping into power lines is prohibited. The total load of electrical equipment must not exceed the electrical load capacity. All power must be turned off upon leaving.
4. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the venue and control sound levels during activities. All posters and banners must be removed and the venue restored to its original condition upon completion of use.
5. The right to use the Lecture Hall may not be exchanged or transferred without authorization. Any classroom coordination should be indicated on the classroom application form.
6. Activities that are inappropriate or that adversely affect the surrounding environment are strictly prohibited.
7. Damage to public property or any unlawful acts are strictly prohibited.

Article 7

Users shall be liable for compensation for any damage to calligraphy and painting works, equipment, or facilities in the Lecture Hall.

Article 8

In principle, the Lecture Hall is available for borrowing by NCCU faculty, staff, and students only. It is not open to off-campus users.

Article 9

These Guidelines shall be implemented upon approval by the Department Affairs Meeting; amendments shall follow the same procedure.
